Joe Tanous

25+ years of senior management and startup experience. Joe Tanous has been a successful venture investor and start-up executive for over 25 years. In the course of his endeavors he has: started several successful start-ups, raised millions of dollars in venture and private financings, managed several mergers and acquisitions, private offerings, IPO's, and secondary offerings. He has also set up and managed all manner of operations including engineering, production, marketing and distribution.

Mr. Tanous was formerly a partner at Bison Ventures and eFund; private investment firms investing in early stage entrepreneurial ventures. In addition to providing equity capital, Mr. Tanous provided assistance in business planning, recruiting, management and follow-on funding. Bison Ventures has investments in several private and public companies.

Mr. Tanous has been involved in many successful start-up ventures including: OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, Contour Design Systems and AutoDesk. As Vice President of Marketing and Sales, co-founder, board member, and investor in OrCAD, Inc., Mr. Tanous secured over $7 million in venture capital. He developed a new strategic plan and reorganized and restructured the company. Mr. Tanous negotiated several corporate acquisitions and the sale of one business unit.

For Contour Designs Systems, Inc. Mr. Tanous held the roles of Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Director, and co-founder. He organized the start-up venture for a new analog design automation product, developed the business strategy and plan, coordinated funding, and recruited personnel and outside services. Mr. Tanous negotiated and managed the merger between Mentor Graphics, Inc. and Contour.

Mr. Tanous served a variety of management roles for Mentor Graphics, Inc. and AutoDesk, Inc., two of the world's largest computer automated design companies. He has managed international marketing, sales, and distribution for the Pacific Rim, Latin America, Canada, the Middle East, China, Eastern Europe, Indo-China, and Africa. He negotiated ground breaking distribution and dealer agreements in foreign locations that lacked capitalist methodology. Tanous holds a BS from SUNY Buffalo. He is also on the board of directors of iMove, Inc. and the Morrison Child and Family Services.
